Anticipated vacancies are with the Department of Emergency Services, Emergency Medical Services Division. Must be available for shift and weekend work. Also must be available to work at all locations on Oahu. Position may require use of safety and protective equipment due to possible exposure to hazardous and obnoxious conditions. |

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT:
A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school and satisfactory completion of Board approved Mobile Intensive Care Technician (Advanced Life Support) training and internship program.

License Requirement:
1) Current State of Hawaii Board of Medical Examiners Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic Certificate (EMT-P), prior to appointment. If you are currently licensed in Hawaii please submit a photo copy of your EMT- P certification within 7 days of filing this application. Copies will not be returned. Out-of-state applicants:
a) Must meet the licensing requirements set by the State of Hawaii. Applicants who are licensed in another state may apply, however, must obtain the Hawaii License prior to appointment. For licensure requirements see http://hawaii.gov/dcca/areas/pvl/boards/medical/
b) Current National Registry Certification for EMT-P. You must submit evidence of your National Registry certification within 7 days of filing this application. 2) Valid Hawaii driver’s license (Type 3) prior to appointment.
3) A current Department of Transportation medical examination certificate prior to appointment.
All licenses and certifications must be valid at the time of hiring and throughout employment. Maintenance of these valid licenses is a condition of employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and satisfactory driving history.
CHARACTER & BACKGROUND: Emergency Medical Technicians must possess sound moral character, integrity, and credibility in addition to the ability to provide emergency medical services. They must have the ability to make sound judgments in emergency situations. Each candidate's character and background and driving record will be thoroughly reviewed to determine suitability for employment. |
