The Ballot Security Judge is responsible for daily delivery and collection of ballot boxes to ballot drop-off locations and Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPCs). They are responsible for delivering and collecting ballots and ballot boxes to Healthcare Facilities (HCFs). They are also responsible for completing chain of custody documentation and delivering supplies to VSPCs, and collecting mail from the General Mail Facility.
- Duties

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Delivering ballot boxes to ballot drop off locations and Voter Service and Polling Centers (VSPCs).
- Ensure that daily pick up of ballot boxes are completed and returned to the elections warehouse for processing.
- Accurately complete chain of custody documentation.
- Deliver supplies to various VSPCs as requested in a timely manner.
- Complete daily mail pick up from the General Mail Facility (GMF).
- Successfully accept mail through the receiving process at the elections facility.
- Collect drive up ballots in ballot boxes on Election Day at any 24-hour ballot box location.
- Deliver ballots and ballot boxes to Healthcare Facilities (HCFs) and pick-up ballot boxes.
- Assisting with ballot removal from the returned mail ballot packet.
- May assisting with the verification of signatures on mail ballot envelopes.
- May assist with the tabulation and counting of voted ballots.
- Requirements
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to remain calm and positive in a fast paced environment.
- Ability to drive and sit in a vehicle for an extended period of time.
- Ability to read map, follow driving directions, and learn alternative routes if needed.
- Some knowledge of Colorado's election model, including mail ballot processing, Voter Service and Polling Center Operations, and ballot drop-off locations or ability to learn at a faster than average pace.
- Ability to prioritize tasks within the project, and meet required daily deadlines.
- Ability to effectively cope with the stress of demanding duties and handle with composure.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and the general public.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy.
- Ability to work as a team player and independently with some direction.

This position requires successful completion of pre-employment background and motor vehicle checks.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Receives immediate supervision from the Ballot Receiving Lead. May also receive supervision from the Elections Operations Manager and the Deputy of Elections.
INTERPERSONAL CONTACTS:
Contacts are with supervisors, management, peers, elected officials, customers, and/or vendors. Contacts require the ability to exercise a high degree of interpersonal skills to influence persons at all levels. Incumbent is accountable for the results of the contact.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work involves transporting ballot boxes and mail trays between the Arapahoe Elections Facility and Warehouse, the General Mail Facility, and various VSPCs, HCFs and ballot drop-off boxes.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.
Spends 30% of the time sitting and 70% of the time either standing, walking, twisting or bending.
Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 50 lbs.
Uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 50 lbs.
Occasionally stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing work duties.
Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated mail ballot machinery or equipment.
Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work related equipment, and operating passenger vehicles.
