The Database Administrator performs a variety of highly complex professional work in the analysis, design, implementation, maintenance, problem resolution, development, and performance optimization of databases in a multi-tier architectural environment. Performs other technical tasks relative to the administration of City databases.

Provides direct support for the design, customization, development, and implementation of enterprise-wide application software from multiple sources, both in-house and vendor-provided such as PeopleSoft, Laserfiche ArcGIS etc. Provides direct support for the integration of data from, and interfaces and data flows between and among multiple applications from multiple sources, both in-house and vendor-provided.

Salary Range:  Database Administrator 1 / 2 $65,353.60 - $93.070.40 Annually
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday with additional or flexible hours as needed to meet business needs.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS
Expert ability with all technical areas of PeopleSoft and database administration

Expert ability with Microsoft Windows; Microsoft SQL Server; Advanced SQL; Performance Tuning; Backup & Recovery; Technical documentation; Replication; Database Mirroring, Advanced PL/SQL.

Build, configure, administer and troubleshoot PeopleSoft application systems

Provide expert troubleshooting for isolating technical problems in the PeopleSoft Internet Architecture (PIA) including MS SQL databases, tuxedo application servers, process schedulers.

Analyze issues with process schedulers, application servers, application messaging/integration broker and web servers

Have in-depth knowledge of PeopleSoft Internet Architecture including security components

Assist with capacity planning, disaster recovery and load balancing activities

Communicates clearly and effectively

Provide input in the development of tools and processes to help automate and increase team productivity

Displays effective analytical skills

Effectively manages scope and expectations on individual assignments

Follows through on all assignments and takes ownership of issues

Seeks innovative ways to improve the process of delivering solutions

Minimum Qualifications
Experience and Education:
Four years of increasingly responsible experience in system and database design/programming. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server required. Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science or a closely related field.

Salary and Benefits
The normal starting salary is the first step shown on the posting. Other placement in the salary range may be considered depending on qualifications and experience. Periodic advancement through the salary range is dependent upon merit.
