Summary

This is a full-time Term Limited Temporary (TLT) position with benefits located in the King County Elections Department, Voter Services Division. This position is represented by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 117, Administrative Support.

Work Schedule: This position is subject to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible. Hours may vary depending on workload, general work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Due to Special Elections and/or the Presidential Election this position is expected to work 35 hours per week through December 31, 2012.  You must have the ability to work long hours during peak periods including Saturday and Sunday.

Job Duties

The responsibilities of this classification include providing a variety of technical clerical support services such as providing specialized, technical or program-specific information; interviewing internal and external customers to establish services needed; establishing and maintaining data. This position provides support for large-scale production operations, establishing, reconciling, and maintaining data, and editing and drafting documents. 

Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers by processing service requests, communicating program information and explaining procedures and regulations.

Work effectively both independently and as a team member to complete assignments.

Perform production-level computer work which includes accurate data entry, retrieving and editing records. 

Set up records and file documents in both electronic and paper formats.

Review documents for proper format, accuracy, completion, eligibility, and other legal guidelines.

Process, scan, copy and/ or file documents records and other information.

Calculate fees, collect cash payments and balance daily cash receipts.

Research information and records or assist in-person customers in records research; provide certified copies upon request.

Inventory, order and distribute supplies, printed materials, and equipment.

Draft letters, correspondence and other written materials.

Create and/or use tables and spreadsheets to document and record data and information.

 

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

Two years of full time office experience, with at least one year working directly with the public in providing customer service.

 

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to deal courteously, professionally and tactfully with both customers and other employees in a diverse work environment.
  • Experience in elections and/or providing administrative support in high volume seasonal office environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Keyboarding and data entry skills with production. Speed and accuracy (will be tested).
  • Professional level verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and complete work assignments within established deadlines.
  • Skill in using Microsoft office software, in a Windows based PC environment.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive issues and maintain security and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced production orientated work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team member to complete assignments.   

Supplemental Information

Able to work overtime during periods of high workload demands.

 

Ability to lift or transport 35 lbs.


Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to travel throughout the county in a timely manner.
