ABOUT THE POSITION

This position plays a key role in the County of Marin’s Covid-19 response as part of the Testing Team. Responsibilities include gathering and organizing testing supplies;  preparing testing and lab documentation;  assisting the public with testing registration, line management and other coordination at testing sites;  providing health education and specimen collection; and other activities that support the testing efforts of the County. This position will work primarily in the Field Testing Team Office and throughout Marin County at pop-up testing sites.  This position may require evening and/or weekend work.
 
There are currently multiple full-time temporary positions available.  
 
Public Contact Assignments: Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and COVID-19 testing appointments will be provided for assignments interfacing directly with the public.
 
Bilingual Assignments:  Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English may be required for some of the available positions.  Successful candidates in bilingual assignments must demonstrate proficiency in both Spanish and English.  A bilingual proficiency exam will be administered to ensure the candidate possesses the appropriate skill level to meet requirements.

ABOUT YOU

The ideal candidate has a passion for serving the residents of Marin County and possesses excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with culturally diverse individuals during a time of crisis and distress.  The also have the ability to show empathy to those in distress and handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.  The ideal candidate possesses excellent skills in verbal and written communication; critical thinking and problem solving; client engagement; and collaboration.  They are organized, detail-oriented and able to perform technical and complicated tasks with a high degree of accuracy, and are able to work independently as well as in teams.
 
The ideal candidate must have the ability to quickly learn, understand, and explain various County resources and maintain accurate detailed records utilizing a program database.  They are comfortable working in an environment that is fast-paced, and can easily adapt to frequent changes in policies and processes.  They have experience utilizing various software applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams and Google Sheets.  Experience or training in the medical field is desirable, though not required.

We recognize your time is valuable, so please do not apply if you do not have at least the following required Minimum Qualifications:   Two years of experience in a health, social service or community organization that has included some direct client contact with a varied population, plus successful completion of six (6) semester units from a recognized college or university in health science, behavioral science, and/or social welfare. College-level education in a field as listed above may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of one year. An additional six months of experience may substitute for the educational requirement.  If assigned as a medical assistant in a public health setting, at least one year of experience in a medical office or clinic is highly desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Candidates selected are subject to fingerprinting by the Sheriff's Department and must pass a Department of Justice LiveScan background check prior to appointment.
 
Disaster Service Workers:   All County of Marin employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law (California Government Code Section 3100-3109). Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
