Location: San Francisco, California
Salary Range: $151,475 - $201,821  (Placement within the salary range will be dependent on experience and qualifications.)
 
The Associate General Counsel is a professional journey-level position well suited to those early in their careers who possess a strong commitment to public service. Under general direction, the AGC performs a broad variety of professional legal duties in support of the senior attorneys in the Office of the General Counsel including preparing and drafting correspondence, opinions, policies, briefs and pleadings; reviewing, and responding to claims and lawsuits; performing legal research; preparation and approval of contract specifications, construction contracts and conveyances; and, drafting and analyzing rules and regulations. Dedication to public service, a strong work ethic, solid analytical skills, flexibility, and judgment are essential. The successful candidate will be a consummate team-player ready to jump in to assist and support senior team members. Generalists or specialists who are willing to learn new areas are welcome! THE FOLLOWING ARE AMONG THE BENEFITS OFFERED TO MANAGEMENT STAFF OF MTC:

  • Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); employee contributes a portion of gross salary on a pre-tax basis.
    • MTC is subject to California Pension Reform and as of January 1, 2013 will offer two pension plans. The plan employee will receive will be based on the individual's historical pension plan membership. HR will discuss this directly with all final candidates.

  • Health Benefits Insurance through the Public Employees' Retirement System (premiums are shared between agency and employee).
