THE POSITION

The Department of Transportation is currently looking to hire a Custodial Worker 1. This role involves engaging in regular manual tasks and basic repair work to ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of the district's office building and surrounding grounds. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of various facilities. This includes washing and polishing floors, as well as cleaning restrooms and replenishing necessary supplies. You will also manage waste disposal, ensuring that wastepaper is properly discarded. Additionally, you will carry out minor repairs within the building, such as changing light bulbs, fixing chairs, and addressing equipment issues. Dusting furniture and fixtures will be part of your routine, along with vacuuming all carpeted areas on a daily basis. You will also be tasked with snow shoveling, sweeping, and cleaning walkways, ensuring that the exterior premises and building entrances remain tidy and free of litter. Lawn care, including mowing and trimming grass around the building, will be part of your responsibilities, as well as maintaining the surrounding grounds. Furthermore, you will deliver supplies and run errands as needed, while also performing any other related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: 

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Monday - Thursday; 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. 
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. 
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
